Wednesday star Jenna Ortega gets feedback from The Addams Family star | Films | Entertainment

Netflix found itself a hit this month with the release of Wednesday, a spin-off from The Addams Family series. The much-beloved franchise has been hitting TV and cinema screens since the 1950s, and American star Jenna Ortega has become the latest star to play the ghoulishly great Wednesday Addams. But Back to the Future alum, Christopher Lloyd, has been rather quiet about the series since it was released – until now.

Lloyd starred in two Addams Family movies throughout his career. He made his debut as Uncle Fester in 1991’s The Addams Family, which was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld. He returned to the role two years under the same boss in Addams Family Values. As a result, he has become one of the most notable names from the franchise over the past few decades. And with the arrival of Netflix’s Wednesday, it’s surprising he has not yet spoken out about the TV show.

He recently broke his silence on Twitter, where he addressed the series’ official account.

The 84-year-old said: “Bravo to @wednesdayaddams – this show is wonderful,” alongside a clapping emoji.

Ricci played Wednesday in the same pair of Addams Family movies that Lloyd joined. Looking back on her work, she recently told Elle: “I loved being Wednesday. I’m very proud of that role. I also think Jenna Ortega is amazing.”

She went on to add: “She is so brave, so cool, and really doing the part justice. Wednesday is her part now.”

The 42-year-old added that she “knew” there would be comparisons between her and Ortega’s versions of Wednesday. She went on: “That’s a natural inclination. But the ‘who was a better Wednesday?’ thing is unreal.”

The new Wednesday star, Ortega, felt much of the same, while also revealing she was a little worried about working with Ricci in the first place.

She confessed: “It was really intimidating because I have so much respect for her as an actress, and being dressed up how she was 30 years ago, it was a little awkward. But I felt safe with her on set almost immediately. She was really sweet about it, and such a generous actress.”

Wednesday has not yet been renewed for a second season, but the show has reportedly been breaking all kinds of Netflix records, so fans can surely expect a new series in the near future.

Wednesday is on Netflix now.
