Zara Tindall is ‘very close friends’ with Autumn Phillips, body language expert claims

Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly were married from 2008 until they split in 2020 and later divorced in 2021. On Friday, Autumn attended the Mike Tindall Celebrity Golf Classic event where she was photographed alongside her former sister-in-law Zara Tindall and also Dolly Maude and Natalie Pinkham. Mike Tindall captioned the post: “The real MVPs (most valuable players) of the day.”

Autumn is said to still reside on Princess Anne’s Gatcombe Park estate where Peter lives with their two children, Savannah, 12, and Isla, 10.

Therefore it is unsurprising to see Autumn continue to get on well with Zara and Mike as they both live in Aston Farm on the Gloucestershire estate.

Judi James, a body language expert, gave explained why Autumn appears to still get on well with her ex-husband’s in-laws.

The expert said: “There’s often a need to perform poses of polite unity after a divorce splits a family.

“But often it’s all just rigid social smiles and awkward body poses to mask the underlying aggro from the children or to avoid causing tension at family gatherings.”

According to the expert, none of these “awkward body poses” were present on Friday.

Judi explained: “There’s absolutely nothing awkward or over-kill about the body language in these poses though.

“This suggests the apparently good relationship between Peter Philips and his ex-wife are genuine and extends through the family too.”

After the couple split, Peter and Autumn were pictured together at Cheltenham Racecourse in March 2020 just before the coronavirus pandemic.

The couple appeared to be very close, according to the body language expert, implying that they are still able to co-parent their two daughters amicably.

Judi continued: “Zara and Mike treat Autumn as a very close friend and even playmate here.

“They adopt comedy poses that suggest shared fun that goes on behind the scenes as well as in public.

Royal watcher @Collette2u commented: “They were a very closely knit family until the divorce.

“Happy to know that she has not changed. I like Autumn. She seems like a kind soul.”

The golf day was held at the Belfry Golf Club in Sutton Coldfield.

Mike’s golf initiative is for raising money for Cure Parkinsons and the Matt Hampson Foundation, which supports young people seriously injured through sport.
