The 76-year-old Queen was the picture of elegance as she stepped out of the car wearing a navy cape dress and sapphire jewels.
Camilla had traded in her bright pink ensemble from earlier today for the classic outfit in her trademark shade of blue.
While she was sure to exude glamour with her carefully styled sapphire jewellery, the Queen Consort did not wear a tiara for the occasion.
Though it may seem odd to skip the tiara for such a poignant event, it was anticipated by Lauren Kiehna, author of The Court Jeweller blog.
The royal expert tweeted: “As (sadly) expected, no tiara from Queen Camilla for tonight’s banquet at the Palace of Versailles.”
The British royal’s dress is by the French fashion atelier, Dior, perhaps worn as a sweet nod to her hosts.
Camilla accessorised with sentimental jewels for the glamorous event, wearing a matching set of earrings, a bracelet and a necklace that once belonged to her late mother-in-law.
These were among Charles’s mother’s most sentimental suites which were gifted to her by her beloved father as a wedding present.
The jewels do come with a matching tiara, though this was not worn this evening.
According to the Court Jeweller, Elizabeth also occasionally wore the original sapphire necklace and earrings without a tiara, as she did above for a private party celebrating the success of her Golden Jubilee year in the autumn of 2002.
The royal expert claimed: “For years, the sapphires were one of Elizabeth’s less-frequently-worn parures. But near the end of her reign, she brought out the set for two major public appearances.
“In October 2015, she wore the sapphires for a state banquet in honour of the visiting President Xi of China at Buckingham Palace.”
Camilla’s gown was made from what appears to be a silk fabric with braided detailing around the waist and torso.
The elegant, floor-length cut was matched with a cape-style overlay which covered most of the royal’s sunkissed skin.
A soft V-neckline showed off the Queen’s sentimental King George VI necklace, which is made from a mixture of diamonds and statement sapphire gems.
She accessorised with her usual low-heeled pumps, featuring a suede upper in dark blue, thick black soles, and a low block heel for added comfort. The Queen was also seen clutching a ribbon-detail navy bag in her right hand.
Her natural radiance shone through her bronzed makeup look which contrasted her white-blonde locks.
