American slasher film Thanksgiving takes the internet by storm | Films | Entertainment

But there’s also a far older one, made when the big social networks were MySpace and Friends Reunited.

“Prepare to have the stuffing scared out of you” ran the tagline of Roth’s fake promo for a then non-existent video nasty which featured in Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s 2007 horror parody Grindhouse.

The film really lives up to its old billing. After a fatal stampede at a Black Friday sale, an axe-wielding psycho in a pilgrim mask decides to take revenge on the folk who caused it.

A girl gets corn-on-the-cob skewers rammed in her ears, a woman is trussed up and roasted in an oven, and a bloke dressed as a turkey gets decapitated.

For fans of stomach-churning, tongue-in-cheek horror, this could be a real feast.
