Captain America star confirms Marvel exit to DC Studios – ‘There’s more there’ | Films | Entertainment

Captain America fans are patiently awaiting the fourth movie in the series, New World Order, which will introduce a new version of the star-spangled man: Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie). But a former Captain America star has now confirmed he’ll be hanging up his Marvel spandex to join the opposite team, DC Studios, after complaining about how he was on screen for a “very f****ng short time”.

At the time of writing, Grillo is rumoured to be joining the upcoming DC Studios TV series Creature Commandos. The series is based on a superhuman team of the same name (not dissimilar to The Suicide Squad) made up of classic horror figures, such as Frankenstein’s Monster, the Wolfman, a vampire and a gorgon.

Grillo’s involvement in the series has not yet been officially announced, but he previously alluded to being involved in it on his Instagram account.

With that said, the 57-year-old actor is still downtrodden about how Marvel ended his character’s run.

He seethed: “They never told a story [about Crossbones]. The mythology of the MCU and just what Marvel has in its pool of characters, it’s so deep. Crossbones was there for a minute, but he was supposed to be there longer.”

Grillo furiously added: “Then they went the direction they did.”

It’s obvious that Grillo is passionate about his craft, as he previously told Express.co.uk that he and Evans took filming to the next level while filming the legendary elevator fight scene from The Winter Soldier.

He confirmed the filming took seven days, and they had a “lot of training” to prepare themselves.

“And then on the day,” he said. “I realised it was necessary for us to hit each other for real because it was so tight.”

Grillo explained that, in order for the filming to look as good as it eventually did, they had to really get physical.

He said: “When we left that elevator… we didn’t leave anything in the elevator I’ll tell you that much. We were black and blue and sore. And, you know, we beat each other up!”

Captain America: New World Order hits cinemas on May 3, 2024.

The Captain America films, and the rest of the Marvel movies, are available on Disney Plus now.
