Christmas movie POLL: Which is your favourite festive film? | UK | News

The Christmas season is upon us and nothing is better than cosying up to watch a good festive movie. But with hundreds to choose from, Express.co.uk wants to know your favourite.

Whether you enjoy films filled with nostalgia, a festive comedy, a Christmas rom-com or animated family fun, there is plenty to choose from.

A recent survey by electrical retailer Currys of 2,000 Britons found that 37 percent spend Christmas Eve watching movies and a quarter settle down to watch festive films on Boxing Day.

The survey also asked about their favourite movies, with Home Alone coming out on top with 21 percent of the vote.

The 1990 comedy starring Macaulay Culkin has remained the nation’s favourite festive film after winning a study by Showcase Cinemas last year.

Elf came closely behind in second place with 19 percent loving Will Ferrel’s adventures as Buddy the Elf who ventures farther away from the North Pole than most elves.

The Grinch ranked in third place with 15 percent choosing Jim Carrey’s take of Dr. Seuss’ classic character.

This was followed by A Christmas Carol and The Polar Express in fourth and fifth respectively. Miracle on 34th Street, The Snowman, Love Actually, and The Santa Clause also ranked highly, completing the top nine.

Despite controversy about whether it classifies as a Christmas film, Die Hard finished in 10th place.

It is not just the plot that brings us back to watch our favourites movies every year but the feeling it leaves us with. BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra film critic Ali Plumb previously said: “The best Christmas movies are reassuring, funny, loving and cozy.

“They give you that kind of snuggly feeling of being wrapped up in a blanket on a sofa. And that’s what people crave.”

But what do YOU think? Which is your favourite Christmas movie? Vote in our poll and leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
