Duchess Sophie looks fabulous in Brixton but shoes are ‘just wrong’ say fans

Sophie attended the NSPCC’s Childhood Day at Richard Atkins Primary School in Brixton, south London, and joined school children taking part in special fundraising activities.

The Duchess of Edinburgh, who is the charity’s patron, dressed suitably for the sunny weather and donned a white blazer and top, and a chic pair of brown clogs.

The royal chose the Fitted Off White Blazer from Chloe, which currently retails for £1,760, and she paired it with the Amanda Silk Crepe de Chine Top in White from A Ross Girl.

Sophie sported stylish checked trousers from fashion brand Sportmax, the flattering Dolly Ed Flared High-Rise Trousers.

She opted for very summery accessories that definitely added a pop of colour to her otherwise simple look, her Sophie Habsburg straw bag – the Duchess wore the Ischia design in orange – and her Penelope Chilvers clogs, the Kampala sandals in tan.

Royal fans took to social media to discuss Sophie’s style and were divided over the clogs, which currently retail for £159 on the designer’s official website.

Many fans pointed out that although clogs are a great option “for running errands or keeping it casual at home,” they may not be an appropriate choice for an official engagement.

On Instagram, @12candicejayne12, opined: “Absolutely detest these shoes. She has some lovely cream leather wedges and some espadrilles wedges that are so much nicer and much more elegant than these clog-type sandals.”

Another one, @djackjohn, commented: “I was happy about this outfit until I got to the shoes…”

Social media user @luxmeagainpreloved suggested: “This is a nice look overall but I wish she would stop wearing the frill sleeve blouse under jackets. This is a belted top that’s best worn alone.

“The trousers are very nice and fit well. The clogs are a no for me. It just feels like many moving parts when she wears separates these days.”

Instagram user @mariannegrfvd shared their opinion saying: “Thee clogs are just a no way for an official visit! Keep it for private. But that doesn’t work with any working day clothes.”

Another one, @alr2491, opined: “Shoes are just wrong for this. Otherwise nice outfit.”

Others thought Sophie looked stunning and very fashionable in her summery business attire.

Instagram user @tashas_2000 commented: “I actually love the clogs. They give a fresh touch to the entire look and yes, I know these type of clogs have been around for ages, but they are so rare these days and I really think it works. There’s a sort of hippie vibe even with the blazer.”
