‘I spent £1,500 on a Yorkshire Terrier – but it looks like a goat’

A woman shared how she was duped into spending thousands of pounds on a purebred puppy that matured into something very different.

TikTok user @fainaomi posted a viral video – which amassed over 500k likes and 4.7 million views since then – of an allegedly “purebred” Yorkshire Terrier puppy she spent £1,500 on, who ended up looking like a billy goat.

Naomi was quite surprised by the transformation since the pup looked like a standard Yorkie at first – with short, dark hair – only to end up having light, matted fur and a lanky appearance after some time.

Fai Naomi claimed that “she was scammed by the breeder who had actually dyed the dog’s fur,” though this hasn’t been officially confirmed.

TikTok users didn’t seem to think the TikTok users had bought a purebred Yorkshire Terrier either. One wrote: “He’s cute but sis that’s fraud you need a refund”.

One joked: “Just put it in the dryer it’ll shrink,” to which Fair replied: “I think I’m gonna try that this afternoon”.

Another said: “Girl them two different dogs bye”.

It’s not the first time people have bought a dog expecting one thing, but getting another. One woman detailed how she bought a dog off Craigslist, only to discover it wasn’t a dog at all.

Content creator Fariha Ahmed explained they had purchased a small white puppy online for cheap.

The content creator was in for a surprise, however, as she eventually discovered that her pet was, in fact, a wolf-dog, which is illegal to own in certain states.

Another TikTok user shared pictures and videos of her own Goldendoodle — transforming from a dog with soft, fluffy, brown fur to a canine with less fluffy and much whiter fur.

The owner also expressed suspicions that the breeder had dyed the dog’s fur, while others tried to reassure them that change in dogs’ fur coloration is normal as they age.

Indeed, at least for the Yorkie breed, it takes between six months to a year to notice a change in coat color, according to the site OodleLife. At this time, it can become lighter and grayer, which is likely what happened to Fai Naomi’s pooch.
