Kate Middleton ‘started taking notes’ from Meghan Markle after Wimbledon

Kate, whose style signatures include Catherine Walker coat dresses and LK Bennett heels, has recently embraced more tailored suiting for her engagements. Many have noted how trousers were a style staple of Meghan’s when she joined the Royal Family.

Meghan wore tailored trousers for early engagements before her wedding, including to Nottingham. Last month, Princess Kate wore an ivory Alexander McQueen blazer along with slim black trousers and black stiletto heels to meet with some of the biggest businesses in the UK to launch a task force dedicated to supporting the importance of early development for children.

One royal fan has claimed Kate’s style “turning point” came at Wimbledon, when she suggested the Princess of Wales began to embrace her sister-in-law’s more modern styling.

Kate and Meghan attended the Wimbledon Championship in 2019 together to watch Serena Williams from the royal box.

Kate wore a green sheath dress with puff sleeves and gold buttons by Dolce & Gabbana , while Meghan wore a white button-down shirt tucked into a Hugo Boss ivory accordion skirt with a navy print.

Amanda Matta is a popular royal fan and uses her public TikTok to comment on the royals. Amanda made a video explaining that she believes Kate attending Wimbledon with Meghan Markle in 2019 is what may have changed the royal’s fashion to what it is today.

The royal expert said: “I almost wonder now looking at this picture of Kate and Meghan at Wimbleton if this was like a turning point.”

Since Meghan began dating Harry, royal watchers have made observations about both Kate and Meghan’s wardrobes, comparing and contrasting the two. In fact, recently fans claimed Kate copied Meghan when she attended the annual St. David’s Day parade for the Welsh Guards parade.

The hat was just like one Meghan wore to Christmas in 2018, although Meghan was from Awon Goldin while Kate’s was created by Juliette Botterill. Style expert Miranda Holder pointed it out on her TikTok account.

She said: “You spotted it. The eagle-eyed among you have told me quite rightly that the hat Kate Middleton was wearing to the St David’s Day Military Parade is very similar to the one Meghan Markle was wearing in 2018 for Christmas.”

One fan remarked: “Ok, I never believed in the whole Kate copying Meghan until now.”

However, Miranda has previously set the record straight on at least some of these “copying” claims. In November Kate wore a camel coat, causing fans to claim she had been inspired by Meghan. It was dubbed “the clash of the camel coats” and one fan wrote on Twitter: “Meghan wore the camel outfit that Kate copied back in February at the Invictus Games.”

Miranda, however, explained: “Princess Catherine stepped out in an all-camel outfit yesterday for her visit to Scarborough and so many of you commented saying that she’s simply copying Meghan’s signature look for a camel coat.

“It’s very true that the camel coat is one of Meghan’s wardrobe heroes. She has a whole collection of them which she uses to add polish to every outfit.

“However, Kate was not copying Meghan, because, in true Princess Catherine style, she has worn the same beautiful coat on many separate occasions.”
