Lisa Marie Presley told Elvis’ girlfriend Priscilla ‘didn’t like her’ | Music | Entertainment

Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley split up in 1972 before officially getting divorced in 1973.

Shortly thereafter, Elvis met and fell in love with his next long-term girlfriend, Linda Thompson.

The 22-year-old beauty queen was enamoured by the 37-year-old musical icon, and they started a passionate relationship that lasted four years.

Linda even met and spent time with Elvis’ daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, but upon one of their first meetings, she learned a hard truth about the King’s ex-wife.

The moment came in Las Vegas when the six-year-old attended Linda’s birthday party – but let something her mother told her slip out. She revealed Priscilla did not like Linda at all.

Linda recalled the moment in her memoir, “A Little Thing Called Life: On Loving Elvis Presley, Bruce Jenner, and Songs in Between”, that Lisa Marie explained the reasoning behind Priscilla’s comments.

“Well,” Lisa Marie said. “My mommy says it’s because when she was married to my daddy, he didn’t take her anywhere, but my daddy takes you everywhere.”

The youngster added: “You are always with my daddy, and my mommy never got to be with my daddy. So that’s why.”

Linda wasn’t upset by this revelation, however. Instead, she felt as if she understood how Elvis treated the two women differently.

“I knew the situation Lisa had described was quite true,” she recalled, before confirming that she did, indeed, travel everywhere with Elvis.

Still, when Linda and Priscilla eventually met, they were on great terms.

Linda remembered that Elvis asked her to be on her best behaviour when she was due to meet Priscilla.

She did as she was asked, and when the two women met they were “very kind and cordial” to one another.

Priscilla eventually thanked Linda for being so nice and welcoming to Lisa Marie.
