Back in September 2018, Doria Ragland joined Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for an outdoor lunch at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the creation of a cookbook titled Together: Our Community Cookbook written by the women who were affected by the Grenfell Tower tragedy. A video from the event has resurfaced, showing a moment when Meghan was interrupted by her mother, and body language expert Jesús Enrique Rosas discussed the signals.
For this engagement, Doria was seen alongside Harry and Meghan, “interacting with everyone, and in general, having a good time”.
In a video on his YouTube channel, Jesús, also known as The Body Language Guy suggested Meghan might’ve been “a little nervous because this was her moment to shine” with her first solo project.
But he noticed how everyone looked like they were “having a good time”, with “lots of genuine smiles” suggesting “they really liked being around Meghan”.
The body language expert said, “even Harry looked really relaxed with nice hand gestures”.

Meghan gave a short speech at the event and Jesús said she delivered it well, but noticed she blinked more than usual.
He explained how “in most situations, this blinking frequency is analogous with anxiety”.
According to the body language expert, humans “blink for a number of reasons; one to lubricate our eyes and two, as a means of processing something in our minds”.
But when Meghan “blinks faster, we know this is an emotional reaction to something” and a “change of rhythm”, Jesús said.
In terms of the moment with Doria, Jesús commented on how Meghan’s “face is quite relaxed”, and there was “no tension in her eyebrows or her mouth”.
Instead, Meghan was simply “talking and using certain hand gestures to emphasise her words” to the group.
However, Jesús observed that, at one moment, Meghan clasped her hands, and explained how this is usually a signal that the speaker is about to finish their idea.
Jesús suggested Doria noted Meghan’s “body language signals” and felt it was a good time to contribute to the conversation, inadvertently interrupting her daughter.

But according to the expert, Meghan’s response to being interrupted contained “a cluster of concerning body language signals”.
Jesús said to “pay attention to [Meghan’s] fingers” because despite clasping her hands, “she was about to say something else”.
He spotted Meghan’s “fingers unclasping” and then “going stiff” which he said is “a signal of tension that you are trying to release with your hands”.
As for Meghan’s facial expressions, Jesús claimed to spot “three signals” that “happened at the same time”.
The first was her opening “her eyes just a bit wider” which she did in conjunction with “pushing her jaw forwards” – Jesús called this a “chin jut” and claimed it’s a “very subtle display of anger”.
Another signal that “gave Meghan’s emotions away” was “the shape of her mouth”. The expert noted how the Duchess’s lips were “pressed against each other” which is said to be “a signal of frustration”.
The expert claimed that “concealed anger and inner tension” formed an “aggressive reaction in terms of [Meghan’s overall] body language”.
