Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is able to keep her children close to her heart in an adorable manner through her carefully-chosen accessories.
The Duchess is a worldwide fashion icon and it has often been remarked that any brands she is seen wearing are almost certain to sell out, and her influence of referred to as the ‘Meghan Effect’.
However, Meghan has also shown in the past she often enjoys putting a personal touch on her outfits and has worn jewellery that features the star sign, birthstones, or initials of her children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, much like her sister-in-law Kate Middleton does.
However, it appears Meghan has bought a new sentimental piece of jewellery which she was seen wearing in a fun selfie with some friends.
Meghan, who turned 42 years old earlier this month on August 4, was seen smiling in a picture shared by her friend Kardi Lee, a professional hair stylist, who shared the snap on her Instagram account Highbrow Hippie.
In the selfie, Meghan has her arms around Kardi as well as their other friend Celo Wade, an author, at what appears to be a birthday lunch celebration at a restaurant. Kardi shared the picture alongside the caption: “Belated bday celebrations w/ these lovely muses.”
The Duchess is able to show off her Califonian Chic style in a simple black tank top with some sunglasses in the picture and is also seen wearing a golden pendant that appeared to be engraved with names.
It was been confirmed by the jeweler’s Ariel Gordon Jewellery that the Duchess was wearing their Imperial Disc Pendant Necklace, which is worth up to $2,555 (£2,005) depending on the engraving and rope size the buyer chooses.
On Instagram, Ariel Gordon Jewellery shared the royal selfie to their account, alongside the caption: “Just like that… Meghan wore her AGJ Imperial Disc Necklace out to lunch with her girlfriends.”
Royal fans have quickly taken to the jeweller comment section to praise Meghan’s accessory choice. One user said: “[The necklace] is beautiful…she was amazing taste” while another person wrote: “[Meghan] has great taste, she is amazing.”
It is unknown what the personalised engraving said on Meghan’s necklace, but for her 40th birthday, the Duchess shared a video of herself wearing two Logan Hollowell constellation necklaces representing of her children’s star signs. Archie was born May 6, making him a Taurus and Lilibet was born June 4, making her a Gemini.
Days before Archie’s christening, she was also spotted wearing an 18-karat gold necklace with the letter ‘A’ for Archie while at Wimbledon in 2019 and was also often wearing an Eternity Ring featuring both Harry and Archie’s birthstones at the Trooping the Colour also 2019.
Wearing sentimental pieces of jewellery is common for the Duchess according to Charlotte Leighm a jewellery designer at Lottie Leigh Fine Jewellery.
Charlotte explained: “The Duchess of Sussex, who is known to express herself through her jewellery, owns several personalised pieces honoring her children.
“Before the birth of her daughter Lilibet, Meghan was seen wearing initial necklaces with both Prince Harry and Archies initials. Initial jewellery has become increasingly popular and is what inspired my gold and diamond ‘Initial Collection’.”
