King Charles and Queen Camilla’s coronation is now only a few weeks away, and the official crowning ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 6. While it is still up for debate whether Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have accepted their invitation to attend the coronation, one fashion expert has explained what she believes the Duchess of Sussex may wear if she does attend this royal celebration.
Miranda Holder is a renowned stylist who has worked with celebrities such as singer Boy George and actress Vanessa Williams. She is a fashion expert who has built up a social media presence on both TikTok and YouTube speaking about royal fashion and explaining the meaning behind some of the Royal Family’s most famous outfits.
In an exclusive interview with the Express, Miranda explained the type of outfits Meghan may wear during the Coronation.
Miranda said: “It’s going to be a new, slightly pulled-back coronation. We do have multiple locations, obviously, we’ve got the main event and the main ceremony on the Saturday, but then we do have the big concert on the Sunday.
“We’ve got the opportunity for something very formal and stately, and we’ve got the opportunity to do something slightly more relaxed, but not overly I don’t think as it’s still very much a royal occasion.”

Miranda said: “[Meghan] has got to wear a gown for a start to the evening. The question is, is she going to go very bright or not, because obviously, the story is that she tried to hold back and wear neutrals to blend in.”
The fashion expert is referring to the ‘Harry & Meghan’ Netflix series which aired in December 2022. In the documentary, Meghan explained that she “rarely wore colour” while she was working as a senior member of the Royal Family so that she could “blend in” and not “stand out” during royal occasions.
Miranda said that what Meghan will wear to the coronation depends on “how she is going to feel” about the event.
Miranda added: “Is she going to go and stand out, be a bit defiant and wear a super bright colour and be ‘here I am and I don’t care’? Or is she going to be maybe slightly more respectful and tread carefully?”
The fashion expert added that Meghan may wear something to try and “get some more public sympathy” as the Duchess has become a “divisive” figure in recent times.
Miranda said: “[She may] wear something a bit more neutral, a bit more laid back, because whatever she wears she will come under such criticism.
“I wouldn’t put it past her to wear white, because she has relied on that recently. The symbolism there evokes purity and innocence and a sort of angelic nature so anything that helps her curry favour would help.”
Miranda also spoke about what she believes both Meghan and Kate will wear to the coronation concert which will take place on May 7.
She said: “I imagine at the second do, Kate will go for Alexander McQueen for that, in some amazing suit. It’ll probably be a coat dress and hat and all the rest of it, because that is what you have, with a chrome colour as the signature.
“I would imagine that Meghan would follow suit with the monochrome, but I do hope she gets the tailoring right this time, you know. A lot of the time very stiff outfits do not suit her.”
However, Miranda added: “Hopefully, she will bring some of her California cool to this formal occasion and get both right.”
