Melania Trump’s immigration status was praised during Trump trial aftermath

Marjorie Taylor Greene has praised Melania Trump as an exemplary immigrant as the representative addressed the Republicans’ recent border bill at the House of Representatives.

The bill resurrects a series of policies introduced by former President Donald Trump, including his signature promise of a border wall between the US and Mexico.

Title 42 was the name given to the restrictions that allowed authorities to quickly expel migrants at US land borders, so-called for the portion of the US code that enabled the CDC director to issue it.

After Donald Trump introduced his hardline immigration policies, Melania’s own immigration story entered the spotlight.

There was also an alleged inconsistency in Melania’s immigration story that sparked interest in her visa status in the days leading up to the 2016 presidential election.

It was reported at the time that Melania had been paid more than $20k for 10 modeling jobs weeks before obtaining a work visa in October 1996.

It later transpired that Mrs. Trump had “followed the law at all times and entered the US legally,” her spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham told Newsweek.

Melania was announced as a naturalised US citizen in 2006, before sponsoring her parents to become green card holders, and eventually US citizens.

The chain migration system that Melania and her parents benefited from, is one that the Trump administration drastically tried to quell.

Nonetheless, Marjorie Taylor Green used the former firm lady as an example during a discussion about security at the United States-Mexico border.

Greene said: “I would like to remind everyone that Republications believe in legal immigration. […] We are very proud of our former first lady, Melania Trump, who immigrated legally to the United States.

“But there is a clear difference in policies when we talk about border and security for the United States of America.

“I think it is very important to remind my colleagues across the aisle what our oath of office […] says. We swear an oat that we will support and defend the constitutions of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

Greene’s comments come days after the jury ruled that Donald Trump sexually abused New York writer E Jean Carrol. The former President was not found liable for rape.
