Next James Bond favourite Henry Cavill’s odds threatened by Dungeons & Dragons star | Films | Entertainment

According to Ladbrokes, Cavill currently has the lead in the Bond odds. At the time of writing, he has an incredible 7/4 on claiming the role of Bond, James Bond, in the next 007 movie.

This is not a massive surprise, considering The Witcher and Superman actor has previously auditioned for the role. He went up against Craig back in 2005 when auditions for Casino Royale were happening – but he messed up. He has since admitted he was not the fittest he could have been, so one of the Bond producers commented on how “chubby” he was looking at the time.

Nowadays, he has built a career on playing buff characters, so Bond could be his next step – unless a major Dungeons & Dragons hero takes his place.

Earlier this month the exceptional Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves hit cinemas, with a number of Hollywood heartthrobs at the forefront of the picture. But one notable Bridgerton actor is moving up the ranks towards Cavill’s lead: Regé-Jean Page.

Page previously hit Bond odds popularity back when Bridgerton first hit Netflix, and now he’s back. The British-Zimbabwean actor played the mighty Paladin, Xenk, in the fantasy romp, allowing him to show off just how powerful he can be in action sequences.

As a result, Page has now been awarded 6/1 odds on becoming the next James Bond. This is a marked improvement on his odds from earlier this month when he had 8/1. These new numbers place him in fourth place and could climb further still.

Ladbrokes’ Alex Apati said: “Henry Cavill is streets ahead in the 007 betting as things stand, while we’ve also seen enough of a move to suggest Regé-Jean Page isn’t out of the race just yet.”

With that said, Page has some strong competition to smite if he wants to begin taking his martinis shaken, not stirred.

Just ahead of Page is James Norton, who recently made waves on BBC screens in Happy Valley. The British actor has the right age, height and looks to become a new traditional representation of James Bond – but is that enough for him to take home the title?

At the time of writing, he has a powerful 7/2 in the Bond odds, but with Page hot on his heels, his days in the top three may be numbered.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is a huge jump ahead of Norton with 3/1 on becoming Bond. Although the British star is young and seasoned, he isn’t exceptionally well-known by Bond fans, so he may have the odds stacked against him for now. With that said, rumours state he has already had a few auditions with the Bond bosses, so he could have already been cast as the hero.

Elsewhere in the odds, the fan favourite Tom Hardy is continuing to lag behind as things hot up towards the front of the race.

Hardy, who is best known for appearing in Dunkirk, the Batman series, and the Venom films, has a meagre 8/1 on becoming James Bond.

Fans have long been calling for the British hard-man to claim the role, even if he previously announced he would never speak about it. “There’s a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting,” Hardy said back in 202. “That if you talk about it you’re automatically out of the race. So I can’t possibly comment on that one!”

Despite not talking about it, he has remained on the Bond list for years at this point – could he eventually claim it?

Fans will likely find out in the next year as Bond bosses Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson gear up to announce the next steps for the hero.
