NS&I has issued advice about what to do if a Premium Bonds holder cannot see some of their Bonds.
Twitter user John Power (@jnpwr) messaged the provider to ask: “I have an NS&I account. I have some old Premium Bond holdings that, when I log in, are not displayed. How can I get them displayed?”
NS&I said in response: “If you’ve found some Premium Bonds in your own name, you can check to see if you’ve won a prize by using our online prize checker here – you’ll just need your holder’s number to hand.
“If you need any information about your investment (including your holder’s number), or to update any of your details, you can write to us at NS&I, Sunderland, SR43 2SB and ask us for an updated Bond record (a summary of your holding).”
The group also include a link to a webpage with details about what to include in the letter and another link to more information about Premium Bonds.
Bond holders will want to keep track of all their Bonds as each £1 Bond has an equal chance of winning a prize in the monthly draw, including one of the £1million jackpot prizes.
Customers also have a better chance of winning from next month’s draw, as the prize fund rate is increasing from 3.7 percent to four percent.
NS&I is adding another 460,000 prizes are to the pot of winnings. NS&I’s chief executive, Dax Harkins, said: “I’m delighted that we’re able to improve the odds to the best they have been in almost 15 years, with more prizes, more excitement and more life changing wins for savers up and down the country.”
A person can hold up to £50,000 in Bonds and the more Bonds a person has, the better their chance of winning.
Another Twitter user recently contacted the provider as they have won no prizes despite having Bonds for 55 years.
They asked if old Bonds become obsolete but NS&I responded to say this is “absolutely not” the case.
The odds of winning are going up from 24,000 to one to 22,000 to one from the August draw, with an extra £30million in prizes to be added to the pot of winnings.
But savers should note the draw is randomised so it’s completely down to luck whether they win or not.
One of the winners in the June draw took home £50,000 for a winning Bond they purchased over 50 years ago, in March 1972. They previously had only £10 in Bonds.
