Prince Harry now makes ‘rebellious’ fashion choices since stepping back from Royal Family

According to Wall Street Journal, King Charles’s two favoured suit makers are Anderson & Sheppard and Gieves & Hawkes, and they have long held royal warrants marking them publicly as official suppliers of the royal.

Prince William, on the other hand, is said to be a fan of British menswear brand Thom Sweeney, a classic Savile Row tailor that has made many of his suits, Country and Town House reported.

Prince Harry, however, now favours Dior suits and royal fashion expert and celebrity stylist Miranda Holder said his choice was “potentially rebellious”.

On several occasions when visiting the UK, Harry was spotted wearing a white Dior shirt.

Then, for the King’s Coronation, he chose a bespoke three-piece suit designed by Dior’s artistic director Kim Jones, with a crisp white shirt and pearl grey tie.

Miranda spoke about his outfit choice and said because he was “under the watchful eye of the many cameras” and him “not wearing any sort of ceremonial uniform, his style choices [were] at the top of the list”.

Most guests chose “to support the best of British brands at such a uniquely patriotic occasion”, but the expert said, “Harry did not get the fashion memo”.

She added: “The Prince turned up looking smart if somewhat apprehensive in an immaculate Dior suit, a potentially rebellious move on his behalf.

“In true royal family style, Harry, like his late grandmother, is a true expert in visual representation, and his decision to wear a French designer to this historic occasion spoke volumes.

“The message was clearly, ‘I’m here, but I’m doing this my own way’, a firm assertion that his newfound independence was not going to change, that he would run alongside the royal pack rather than within it.”

Meghan Markle also favours Dior, and Miranda suggested the brand is “a little bit more shouty, and a little bit more ‘look at me’” compared to “the quiet luxury of the British designer’s aesthetic”.

She told The Daily Mail: “The fact the couple are favouring Dior so much points strongly towards more than just an appreciation for the couturier.”
