Princess Anne’s ‘elusive’ brooch may have a hidden meaning – pictures

Princess Anne stepped out at Westminster Abbey on Monday wearing a beautiful green coat she has owned since 2012. The Princess Royal’s silver brooch was also a repeat wear for the 72-year-old, although little is known about the jewel.

Twitter user @dagmar_Marie77, who is an expert in royal fashion, tweeted: “As you all know our beloved Princess Royal is the ultimate vintage Princess and wearer of elusive jewellery.

“Today was no exception. Anne has worn this brooch on several occasions but itā€™s never been identified.

“We now call it the elusive silver and Amethyst scroll brooch.”

@Remisagoodboy, who is also an expert in royal fashion, added: “I just adore her and her elusive jewellery collection.”

Some royal fans pointed out that the brooch looked like the designs by the Scottish architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

If the brooch was worn as a nod to Scotland, then that would be a sweet gesture from The Princess Royal.

Princess Anne was previously seen wearing the jewel in October 2021 when she attended a service of Thanksgiving to mark the centenary of the Royal British Legion at Westminster Abbey.

This was a poignant outing because Anne attended the event along with Her Late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

“Half her formal wardrobe dates from the ā€™80s and 90s, but youā€™d never know.

“She was clearly very good at choosing sensible lines and fabrics that never really go out of fashion.”

Twitter user @silverfoxlover added: “Her coats are incredible. She is my fashion icon. Always understated and elegant.

“I wonder what she will wear to the Coronation – hope itā€™s something vintage.”
