Princess Kate has gone viral on social media after she showed she can handle any situation like a Queen after a strong gust of wind threatened to blow her skirt upwards during a royal wedding.
Kate was spotted giggling and trying to prevent the fashion disaster shortly after the wedding ceremony of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brookbank in 2018.
The Princess was congratulating the newly married couple alongside other senior royals, such as Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip and Prince Harry, outside of St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle when the incident took place.
A strong wind threatened to blow Kate’s dress hem upwards in front of the entire Royal Family, and Duchess Sophie can be seen looking shocked as Kate hurriedly tried to smooth down her dress, but the Princess was able to be good-humoured about the wardrobe malfunction.
A video of Kate’s ‘Marliyn Monroe’ moment has gained popularity on TikTok, and the clip shows the Princess roaring with laughter alongside Sophie as they both place their hands on Kate’s skirt to make sure it stays put.
In the comment section of the video, royal fans praised Princess Kate for the amusing moment, and Sophie was helping her out. One user said: “I love Sophie so much”
Another person wrote that the incident showed that both royals were “two beautiful ladies.”
However, this was not the first time Kate had to deal with this fashion faux pas. In 2016, a strong wind caught Kate’s dress while she was paying her respects at a war memorial.
Kate and William laid a wreath at the India Gate national monument while on a royal tour in New Delhi, India, and the wind almost interrupted the sombre moment by blowing the Princess’ dress upwards.
However, the Princess was able to keep her composure by placing her arms at her side, and she was able to pay her full respects to India’s soldiers who fought in the First World War.

Stewart Parvin, who used to be Queen Elizabeth’s personal dressmaker, explained he used to take precautions by weighing down the late monarch’s dressing in order to preserve her modesty.
In a past interview with the Daily Mail, Mr Parvin explained he sewed curtain weights into Queen Elizabeth’s dresses, and that he used to buy these useful contraptions for only £1.50 at the Chelsea department store.
He explained: “I just pop a couple of weights into the hemline of her dresses and coats and it makes them hang beautifully. If there is a flap in the coat then I will sew in one on each side of the split to even it up.
“Sometimes if she is wearing a lightweight chiffon skirt I will sew in a smaller lead weight the size of a pea or even a length of chain.”
