Sam Smith has just hit the road on their massive Gloria tour, where they’ll be playing the latest hits from their fourth studio album of the same name. But once they arrived at Sheffield’s massive Utilita Arena, things got a little too much for the pop star.

According to Yorkshire Live, Smith took to the stage in a collection of over-the-top garments, giant green dress, stockings, and nipple tassels.

But it wasn’t until Smith addressed the audience that they began to lose their poker face.

They said: “Seeing all of you to look at is a joy. Welcome to the Gloria tour. It has been so, so long since I have been on a stage like this. It’s been five years and a lot has happened.”

Smith’s voice began to tremble as they placed their hands on their head, before shedding tears about the enormous show they were playing.

“I just want to say,” Smith continued while becoming overwrought with emotion. “Thank you so much for being with me through these crazy times, it means the world to me.”

They went on to promise: “As long as you are happy, I will sing for you every night.”

As the first night of the Gloria tour, Smith went on to add that they wanted to make it as special and as powerful as possible.

They went on: “Thank you for being here. Tonight is my chance to give as much energy to you to give you a good time. This show is about love and a show about freedom.”

Smith went on to encourage their fans to get to know one another.

“It is so important to me that you all look to your left and right and say hello to everyone near you,” they requested.

“This is a safe space and you can do whatever you want. I want you to have fun, and nothing can go wrong. I love you all. thank you for being here.”

After clearing up their tears, they continued on with their massive spectacle performance, which included devil’s headdresses, a pitchfork, stockings, and lots of raunchy dancing.

Whether you’re a fan of their performances or not, Yorkshire Live reporter Lucy Leeson gave Sam Smith a whopping five stars for their incredible performance.

Leeson added that Smith’s enchanting display was “one of the best concerts and performances I have ever been to”.

The Guardian’s Daniel Dylan Wray called Smith’s night of entertainment a “supercharged sexualised romp” in his four-star review.
