State pension and Universal Credit payment dates are changing this week‌ | Personal Finance | Finance

Britons may want to note payment dates are changing for the state pension and Universal Credit over this weekend.

The Spring bank holiday is on Monday, May 29, and will affect some payments from the DWP and HMRC.

Payments due on May 29 will be paid early on Friday, May 26. DWP confirmed the amended dates in its latest Touchbase bulletin.

Jobcentre and phone lines for the department will be closed on the bank holiday Monday.

Payments are going out on the Friday to ensure they will arrive on a working day, so claimants can get in touch if they have any issues.

The DWP said: “On Monday, May 29, Jobcentre Plus offices and phone lines are closed. To make sure people get their payment on a day when Jobcentre Plus offices are open, some payments will be paid early.

“If the expected payment date is Monday, May 29, benefits will be paid on Friday, May 26.”

Social Security Scotland has also confirmed on Twitter that payments due on Monday, May 29 will be paid on Friday, May 26.

The group’s offices, webchat services and phone lines will be closed on the bank holiday. This bank holiday is the third this month, after the May Day holiday for May 1 and the Coronation bank holiday on May 8.
