A recent poll conducted by Emerson College has revealed a surprising surge in support for businessman Bernie Moreno in Ohio’s Republican primary for U.S. Senate. Just one day before the primary, Moreno has taken a commanding nine-point lead over his opponents. The poll, sponsored by NBC4 parent company Nexstar, showed that Moreno is the preferred choice among voters, with 38% supporting him compared to 29% for state Sen. Matt Dolan and a mere 12% for Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose.

This poll marks a significant shift from previous polling that had Dolan in the lead. However, with 21% of voters still undecided, the race between Moreno and Dolan remains tight. The economy was identified as the most important issue for Republican primary voters, with 37% ranking it as their top priority. Moreno has a strong lead among voters concerned about the economy, as well as those focused on immigration.

The poll was conducted on March 17 and 18, just before the primary election. Early voting has closed, and voters now have the option to cast their ballots by mail or in person on the day of the election. Polls open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This new poll sets the stage for an exciting primary race in Ohio, with Moreno emerging as a strong contender for the Republican nomination.
