What is the Cold Weather Payment?
A person may get the Cold Weather Payment if they’re getting certain benefits or Support for Mortgage Interest.
The scheme runs between November 1 and March 31 each year, and it may be possible to get more than one payment during that time, although it’s not guaranteed there’ll be triggers in the local postcode.
If the average temperature in a local area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees celsius or below over seven days in a row, an eligible person may get the £25 sum.
When a Cold Weather Payment has been triggered, the eligible person should get it automatically.
