Zara and Mike Tindall wow in matching jackets at Cheltenham Festival

Zara and Mike Tindall often show public displays of affection, and today at Cheltenham Festival was no different. The pair were seen with their arms around each other and staring lovingly into each other’s eyes. Both were dressed up to the nines on the festival’s St Patrick’s Thursday.

Zara looked elegant in a chic, blue tartn trouser suit. The tartan print was subtle and adorned her jacket and matching trousers.

Underneath her collarless blazer the royal wore a navy blue top. Her heels were also navy blue.

As for accessories, Zara opted for burgundy – she donned a fascinator in the colour and carried a matching bag.

Burgundy and navy blue – often together – are hues Zara wears regularly. The royal’s outfit for the first day of the festival, on Wednesday, was also burgundy and blue.

Meanwhile, Mike complemented his wife as he also wore a tartan jacket, but in brown.

The jacket’s print was once again subtle, in orange and dark green.

Mike accessorised with a burgundy tie, again matching his wife’s accessories, and a flat cap. He donned a pair of beige trousers and brown leather shoes.

Interestingly, Zara and Mike have worn matching outfits to Cheltenham all week. On Tuesday, both chose to don burgundy.

Yesterday, the theme was blue as Zara wore a Rebecca Vallance blue coat and Mike complemented her look with a blue tie.

Today, Zara and Mike’s burgundy accessories match, as well as their tartan jackets.

Zara completed her look with a box-shaped burgundy leather bag with gold detailing.

She also wore hoop earrings adorned with tiny leaves, and her blonde locks were tied in a neat updo at the nape of her neck.

Her make-up look was her usual lashings of black mascara, accentuating her blue eyes, and a slick of light pink lipstick.

Mike, meanwhile, had a gold, deer-shaped brooch on the collar of his tartan jacket. The deer was tiny and had antlers.

Mike and Zara’s matching outfits all week could be a deliberate “style trick”, according to a fashion expert.

Celebrity stylist Miranda Holder told Express.co.uk yesterday that the couple’s clothes helped them to “appear to be the epitome of marital harmony”.

She continued: “Coordinated dressing is a royal style trick that has been tried and trusted for decades for several reasons.

“Firstly, it looks nice and is pleasing to the eye when they present themselves as a couple. Secondly, it looks really good in photographs and the royals are some of the most photographed people in the world.

“It also subconsciously portrays a united front, indicating that the couple are very much just that – a couple – and want the world to know just how close they are.

“And, finally, it helps to cement their personal brand in the eyes of the public. They look finished, styled and considered – and the result is both polished and professional.”
