It’s already being tipped as one of the biggest films of the year and now the Barbie movie has just revealed a staggering array of stars joining the perkily perfect central pair of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. The wonderful world of the iconic Mattel doll has been recreated by Greta Gerwig and is, of course, populated by endless variations of Barbie and Ken. The trailer and posters have revealed ‘other’ Barbies including Sex Education’s Emma Mackey as a brainy Barbie “with a Nobel Prize in physics” and Doctor Who’s Ncuti Gatwa as a guitar strumming cowboy Ken.
Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan already has experience of espionage as the alter ego of Lady Thistledown and now she will be playing a sassy Diplomat Barbie.
Speaking of secret identities, the big surprise today was the revelation that pop star Dua Lipa will be playing a mermaid. The star confessed that she had been keeping the very big secret for quite a while. And now everybody is in a frenzy waiting see how many songs she will contribute to the soundtrack.

The trailer shows the day-glo pastel world of the characters before a careering car ominously passes a sign pointing to “The Real World.” Margot Robbie’s iteration is off on a big adventure and she suddenly finds Ryan’s Ken has stowed away with her.
