Chrissy Teigen and John Legend have announced the birth of their fourth child, a baby boy, via surrogacy.
The presenter and model said her heart is “officially full,” thanking her surrogate, Alexandra, for the “incredible gift”.
Announcing the happy news on social media, she said their baby boy was born on 19 June, and named Wren Alexander Stephens – in tribute to the surrogate.
In a statement shared on Instagram, Teigen, 37, told her 42.2 million followers that she had “always wanted four children” and shared stories of pretending to parent four toys as a little girl.
She went on to reference losing her son Jack mid-way through her pregnancy in 2020, which she has previously described as the “greatest pain” imaginable.
At the time, her openness about stillbirth was praised for demystifying the experience as she shared photos of her and Legend grieving in hospital following the birth and death of their child.
In her announcement post, she wrote: “After losing Jack, I didn’t think I’d be able to carry any more babies on my own.
“In 2021, we reached out to a surrogacy agency, with our first correspondence inquiring about perhaps having 2 tandem surrogates, to each bring us a healthy baby boy or girl.”
She said they also “restarted the IVF process,” in a bid for her to “try to carry [a baby] just one more time”.
Teigen and musician Legend announced the birth of their third child, a daughter called Esti, in January this year.
The couple also have daughter Luna, seven, and son Miles, five, who were both conceived using IVF.
Calling her surrogate Alexandra “the most incredible, loving, compassionate surrogate we could ever imagine”, Teigen said she and Legend had known she was the “perfect match” the moment they first spoke to her.
She wrote: “We want to say thank you for this incredible gift you have given us, Alexandra.
“And we are so happy to tell the world he is here, with a name forever connected to you, Wren Alexander Stephens.”
