Satanic singer’ Sam Smith cancels UK show this weekend after vicious Piers Morgan attack | Music | Entertainment

Sam Smith was due to take to the stage tonight at the Glasgow OVO Hydro Arena as part of their ongoing Gloria tour in support of the star’s latest album of the same name. The non-binary pop star, who prefers to use the they/them pronouns, has been hitting headlines over recent months for their ‘Satanic’ and sexualised outfits and routines on stage and in videos. With the star dressed in devil horns, fishnets and a variety of revealing and gender fluid costumes, many critics claim that Sam’s current tour is not suitable for families and children.

Back in February at the 2023 BRIT Awards, Sam’s performance of Unholy with Kim Perras closed the show and resulted in 106 registered Ofcom complaints.

A spokesperson for Ofcom said of responses to the televised ceremony: “The majority of complaints related to Sam Smith’s performance, with the remainder about the use of offensive language and consumption of alcohol.”

Since then, the ‘unholy’ row has continued to grow with social media becoming a battleground between fans and critics of the singer, especially over the current tour. And now Sam has been forced to cancel tonight’s show in Scotland.

Sam, who has been repeatedly subject to such attacks across their own social media accounts, regretfully told fans last night that they were unable to go ahead with tonight’s show,.

They posted on social media: “Sailors, I’m so sorry to say but we have to reschedule the Glasgow show to 25th May 2023. Myself and a lot of my team have been hit with a virus, that’s made us really unwell.

“I want to give the best version of Gloria the Tour and at the moment that’s not possible. It was also really important to me that we had another date to move this to straight away.

“We will celebrate Gloria together!! All previous tickets are still valid for the new date. For any more information, go to my website www.samsmithworld.com. All my love, Sam x”

As well as the rescheduled Glasgow show, fans will only have a couple more chances to catch their idol on the UK leg of the Gloria tour, when it hits Birmingham’s Resorts World Arena on April 25, before heading across to Europe.

Sam briefly returns for two more UK dates in Manchester on May 24 and then the rescheduled Glasgow date on May 25, before leaving Europe on July 15 and heading to the US and then Australasia, where the tour ends on November 11.
