Side hustle pensioner shares easy way she made over £1,000 from her driveway | Personal Finance | Finance

By renting out her drive, one pensioner has been able to make over £1,000 to add to her lifestyle in retirement.

Becca from West London has been renting out her driveway for years, ever since her neighbour would always take her spot for free.

After finding JustPark online, she has been able to make a monthly profit by renting out her parking space.

She said: “I looked at what everyone else was charging and just charged a bit less so I could get lots of business.

“I have the lowest rate in the area, so I come up first and I get continuous bookings.”

The 66-year-old made £1,100 in 2022 with JustPark to supplement her income. In a month she can make anywhere between £115 a month to £240. On average, she makes around £200-240 a month.

JustPark has identified that there is a staggering £1.85 million in unclaimed earning potential due to increasing driver demand.

As the cost-of-living crisis continues, Britons are always looking for extra ways they can make cash.

Becca explained that the sign-up process was very straight forward and easy.

People can book each day at a time, or they can make multiple bookings in advance and get a discount.

Each user can set their own rates and charge as they wish. If people live near train stations, national parks, bus routes, and stadiums then they may be able to benefit from JustPark.

Becca has been working in the gig economy since she was 50 and has never looking back.

Gig workers are independent contractors who work short-term contracts or freelance work as opposed to permanent jobs.

Her side hustle and pension income have allowed her to live the life she wants.

Becca is able to make income through her pension, film work, market research, and being part of an academic support group. JustPark is just one of her income streams.

When speaking on her extra income, she said: “It’s very nice to have, I’m very grateful for it.”

Anthony Eskinazi, CEO and Founder of JustPark said: “By sharing the earning potential of some of the most familiar faces and characters in the UK, we hope that Brits recognise the untapped goldmine that is their driveway.

“With members of the JustPark community able to earn up to £5,000 a year, our app is the simplest way to supplement your income, whether you are saving for a rainy day, or looking for some support during the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.”

The the top cities where parking places are particularly in demand include Manchester, Brighton, Birmingham, Liverpool, Cardiff, Milton Keynes, and more.

UK tax rules allow people to earn up to £1,000 per year from a side hustle without having to declare it.

And with the cost of living continuing to impact us all, a few extra pounds from letting someone else use the driveway is an “easy way” to generate extra earnings.
