How one man’s ‘side hustle’ has made him $30,000 | Personal Finance | Finance

One entrepreneur has taken his “passion” and turned it into a lucrative second career earning him an extra $30,000 (Ā£23,389.05).

Nick Burgess works in advertising, but his true “passion” is finance – something which his wife encouraged him to develop.

So, Mr Burgess created Making a Millennial Millionaire, which is a website aimed at helping people invest and making financial issues easier.

With a background in banking and having previously studied at the Corporate Finance Institute, Mr Burgess launched the site in June 2021.

And since then the site has grown, earning him $30,000 (Ā£23,389.05) and counting.

Speaking to Daily Express US, Mr Burgess explained exactly how he managed to strengthen his income significantly with his side hustle ā€œpassionā€.

He said: ā€œI was at a company a few years ago that promoted me from a highly-creative job to a creatively unfulfilling one.

ā€œAs a result, I was miserable, and my wife encouraged me to find a creative passion outside of work. I always enjoyed writing, so I decided to pursue a blog.

ā€œMy nine-to-five is also in digital marketing, so creating and running my own website helped me broaden my skillset in daily life as well.ā€

Despite not knowing how to make a website or how to optimise it for search, Mr Burgess taught himself and began seeing an impact.

Making a Millennial Millionaire began reaching more people when it was featured on bigger websites, drawing in more customers.

Mr Burgess explained: ā€œSeveral years ago, I was in a situation where my medical bills began to stack up, and the only way I could pay it off was with credit cards.

ā€œThat led to a large amount of credit card debt in my own life which forced me to learn about personal finance at a deep level. I think that understanding personal finance is more important today than it ever has been before.

ā€œā€˜Inflationā€™ and ā€˜recessionā€™ have been the hot terms for the last 18 months, but how many people actually understand those concepts and how they affect you?

ā€œMy blog aims to answer those questions in a straightforward, relatable way that I feel like is missing in the personal finance world.ā€
