Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds gig cancelled over air quality issues | Ents & Arts News

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds have been forced to abandon a gig in the US just hours before the show due to issues with air quality.

Concert promoter FPC Live said the event at Breese Stevens Field in Madison, Wisconsin, had been cancelled on Wednesday following local public health advice.

Refunds will be available for ticket-holders, it added.

Gallagher retweeted the announcement to his 1.3 million Twitter followers but did not make any further comment.

Rock band Garbage had also been due to play on the same night.

Gallagher and his band are next due to perform in Noblesville, Indiana, on Thursday.

The 56-year-old musician formed the High Flying Birds in 2010 – the year after Oasis split.

The decision to cancel the gig follows actress Jodie Comer halting a Broadway performance of Prima Facie earlier this month after experiencing breathing difficulties caused by poor air quality in New York City.

Thick smoke from Canadian wildfires has poured into the US east coast and mid-west, causing hazardous levels of pollution in cities including Detroit, Chicago and New York.
