Hollywood Jewish Community issues statement denouncing Jonathan Glazer’s Oscar speech #condemnation #openletter

In a recent development, “The Zone of Interest” director Jonathan Glazer’s acceptance speech at the Oscars has sparked controversy among more than 500 Jewish show business professionals. The filmmaker’s speech, which denounced the “dehumanization” of the October 7 attack on Israel by Hamas, led to the signing of a letter that refuted the use of Jewish identity to draw moral equivalence between Nazi Germany and Israel. Signatories of the letter included notable names like Eli Roth, Amy Sherman-Palladino, Amy Pascal, Debra Messing, and others. The letter emphasized the need to differentiate between the actions of a regime seeking extermination and a nation trying to defend itself. Glazer’s speech, loosely inspired by Martin Amis’ novel and set during the Holocaust, highlighted the impact of dehumanization and the need to resist it. The news about the open letter was first reported by Variety.
