Elvis granddaughter Riley and Priscilla mourn death of Benjamin Keough | Music | Entertainment

Riley Keough has had an overwhelmingly intense first half of 2023 filled with personal and professional triumphs and tragedies.

On the same day this week as she celebrated an Emmy nomination for her role in Daisy Jones & The Six, the granddaughter of Elvis Presley also remembered the anniversary of her brother’s death.

In fact, the Amazon Prime series was announced on July 25, 2019, just two weeks after Benjamin Keough was found dead at his California home.

Riley was still dealing with the sudden shock death of her mother Lisa Marie Presley on January 12 this year, just weeks before her new show finally hit screens.

On July 12 she then had to deal with the joy of a major award nomination and the memory of the day she lost her only brother.

In fact, Riley did not realise at first that she had been nominated because she was quietly spending time at home with her family.

She told Vanity Fair: “I was in my house and my phone was on silent ‘cause I was with my family, and then I returned to my cell phone and had like 700 missed texts and calls, so I assumed I got nominated.”

The 34-year-old posted a very simple tribute on her Instagram stories, simple saying”Missing you both” on a beautiful and adorably funny black and white photo of her mother and brother, with Ben making an cute face.

Lisa Marie and Benjamin are both buried alongside Elvis Presley at Graceland.

Riley previously described the long period of grieving her brother as “a year of feeling like I was thrown into the ocean and couldn’t swim.”

Her grandmother, with whom she had recently been embroiled in a court case over the estate of Lisa Marie, also posted her own heartfelt message.

Priscilla wrote: “Needless to say, this has been a very solemn day for me – the anniversary of the passing of my sweet grandson Ben. Words cannot express how much you are missed. Nona.”

Riley and Priscilla settled their dispute in May, with the actress reportedly paying her grandmother $1million for sole control of Lisa Marie’s estate.
